Physical therapy
Physical therapy that gets you moving again
Hands-on, goal-driven rehab for injury, surgery recovery, and everyday pain — for every age, at both of our Gulf Coast clinics. And because we also offer aquatic and pediatric therapy, families can find the care they need in one place.
What is physical therapy?
Physical therapy is hands-on care that helps you recover movement, strength, and function after injury, surgery, or the onset of pain. A licensed therapist evaluates you, then guides a personalized plan of exercise, manual therapy, and education. The goal is lasting relief and a safe return to the activities that matter to you.
Conditions we treat
Physical therapy helps with far more than sports injuries. Here's the range of what our therapists work with day to day.
Post-surgical recovery
Structured rehab after orthopedic surgery — knee and hip replacements, ACL and meniscus repairs, rotator cuff and shoulder procedures, and spine surgery — following your surgeon's protocol to rebuild strength and range of motion.
Back & neck pain
Relief and lasting change for low back pain, sciatica, disc-related pain, neck pain, and headaches — through targeted movement, manual therapy, and posture and body-mechanics coaching.
Joint & orthopedic injuries
Shoulder, knee, hip, ankle, and elbow problems — from rotator cuff and tendon issues to sprains, strains, and overuse injuries that limit your daily movement.
Sports injuries
Recovery and return-to-play for weekend athletes and student-athletes across the Coast, with a plan built around the demands of your sport.
Work injuries
Rehab for on-the-job and repetitive-strain injuries, with return-to-work planning. See our employer services for work conditioning and workers' comp care.
Arthritis & chronic pain
Movement-based strategies to reduce pain and protect your joints — often paired with aquatic therapy when land exercise is still too much.
Balance & dizziness
Unsteadiness, vertigo, and fall risk respond well to targeted therapy. Learn more about vestibular & balance rehab.
Not sure if we can help?
If your pain or limitation isn't listed here, call the clinic nearest you. A quick conversation usually clarifies whether therapy is the right next step.
What treatment looks like
Every plan is built for the person in front of us, but most combine several of these:
Therapeutic exercise
Progressive, targeted movement to rebuild strength, mobility, and endurance — the backbone of lasting recovery.
Manual therapy
Hands-on joint mobilization and soft-tissue techniques to ease pain and restore motion.
Dry needling
When it fits your plan, dry needling can release stubborn muscle tightness and trigger points.
Aquatic option
Warm-water aquatic therapy lets you start moving sooner with less joint strain, then transition to land as you improve.
Education & home program
You'll understand what's going on and leave with a simple home routine — where much of the progress actually happens.
Modalities as needed
Heat, ice, and other tools to manage pain and support the active parts of your plan.
Why patients choose Community Rehab
Care for the whole family
Physical, aquatic, and pediatric therapy under one roof — so kids, parents, and grandparents can all be cared for at the same practice.
A therapy pool at both clinics
Warm-water aquatic therapy in Diamondhead and Gulfport — pool-based rehab close to home, wherever you are on the Coast.
Insurance-friendly, Medicare accepting
We accept most insurance plans and Medicare, verify your benefits before you start, and tell you what to expect — no surprise bills.
Locally owned
The people caring for you are your neighbors, invested in this community — not a distant corporate chain.
Your first appointment
Your first visit is an evaluation. Your therapist reviews your history, checks how you move, and talks through your goals — then, in most cases, you begin your plan the same day. Plan for about 45 to 60 minutes, and wear comfortable clothing you can move in.
How long a plan of care runs
Many patients attend one to three visits a week for a few weeks, while recovery after surgery or a long-standing problem can take longer. Consistency shortens the total — keeping appointments and doing your home exercises usually means fewer visits overall.
Where to find this care
Physical therapy is offered at both Gulf Coast clinics.
Questions
Do I need a referral for physical therapy?
In many cases, no — Mississippi's 2024 direct access law lets many patients start without one, though some plans require a referral for coverage. See our referral guide.
How long does physical therapy take to work?
Many patients notice change within a few weeks, but it depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and how consistently you attend and do your home program. Your therapist sets realistic expectations at the evaluation.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in, and shoes you can walk in. If we're treating a knee or ankle, shorts help.
Will my insurance cover it?
Most plans cover physical therapy, though your specific cost depends on your deductible and copay. We verify your benefits before your first visit. See what affects cost.
